Seeing as though the last faithful update I've made here was on November 19, 2007, I feel as though I should address that. I know I haven't kept the site very active, and most of it is my fault. As with most of the other staff here, however, I have school/homework to tend to as well as sports that I play, so at the end of the day it's very difficult to have the mindset of "gee, I could make that Halo 2 page now!" I just would rather kickback and actually play a game of Halo. One could argue that its laziness. One could argue its fair rest after a long day. Either argument would be valid. It's not my job to sit here and make excuses as to why nothing is getting done. I need to be more proactive about getting things done and putting forth effort to create a place that has some amount of substance to it rather than just a few short pages.

In order to fix this, I've decided that there needs to be some changes. First, I need to have a set amount of time dedicated to building and maintaining the website. Laziness is not an excuse for not getting anything done. Truth be told, I do have time on weekends and I don't utilize it for anything constructive. So maybe it's time for me to be less lazy and actually make something happen in that time. Second, I'm going to need help because everything I've promised will not get done if there's just one person working to achieve that everything. Right now I'm working on my staff application page. I need staff, volunteers, whatever. Even if you can just volunteer and write simple articles for me it helps. Go through the menus on the main site and check out what's under them. Maybe you're good at writing something for a certain category. I will be looking forward to staff applications and perhaps having someone join the TSP team. Finally, I'm still building that new layout I mentioned months ago. I'm not a fan of our current layout because it's far too blue and there are some places I went wrong with it, so I'm going to introduce a fresh, brighter layout that will hopefully be more appealing to the eye. It will also be much more interactive and include some Ajax stuffs maybe, just for the sake of showing off and getting interaction up... hello Web 2.0.

Even setting aside weekends will not be enough, however, so nothing major will happen for about two more months when I finally get on summer vacation and have a large amount of time to do this. The layout will not be ready until then and expect long articles to show up then and not any sooner. But I promise, I want to make this go somewhere unlike my last site. Thanks everyone for reading and I'll keep you more updated on Halo-world events in the future!
BREAKING: Halo 3 Downloadable Content!
Posted on: Monday, November 19, 2007 07:34 PM, by Artis Oracle | Comments (2)
On December 11th, the Halo 3 loyal can turn to their 360 dashboard and download the new Heroic Map Pack for 800 Microsoft Points ($10 USD), according to Bungie in an update earlier today. Featured in the map pack are three new maps: Standoff, Rat's Nest, and Foundry.

Standoff is essentially a small version of Halo's Blood Gulch with two huge, looming satellite dishes nearby. This map also introduces the ability to place mancannons on it in Forge. The second map, Rat's Nest, shares an obvious name similarity to the campaign level Crow's Nest. It is designed to be a larger map set indoors because of the lack of indoor maps on Halo 3. Finally, Foundry is a warehouse that was designed to really be a Forge map.

These maps will be rolled into matchmaking in the main playlists and in a separate playlist. This is done because during Halo 2, there was a divide between those who had the downloadable content and those who did not. This time around, not only will the people who have obtained the map have their own playlist, but the matchmaking system will sort out those who have the map pack and those who do not, that way game types are still assigned to the new maps in regular playlists.

BREAKING NEWS! Bungie Independent From Microsoft
Posted on: Friday, October 5, 2007 11:18 AM, by Artis Oracle | Comments (9)
As of a press release earlier today by Microsoft, Bungie is no longer a child company of Microsoft Corporation. It is now an independent game studio. This does not affect the games. Bungie still has an agreement with Microsoft to keep publishing games on Microsoft gaming platforms. The article is on Bungie's website:

HALO 3 IS HERE!

Almost a year and a half official wait and almost three years otherwise, Halo 3 has finally hit store shelves. I'm going to go pick up my copy as soon as I'm out of school and I can assure you that once I get past the initial 6-hour gaming binges/hangovers from H3 MD/moodiness I will bring somewhat in-depth analysis of the game and its features.

So far the reviews for the game have been in the mid-9s and some 10s so I definitely recommend trying to find the game and play it. I'll see y'all later, as you may not see me for a bit.
30-Minute Halo 3 Demonstration

One of the few copies out there of Halo 3 has already made headlines on the internet, including a revelation of the ending. However, instead of giving you spoilers, this guy is interested in showing you the basics of Halo 3, including the opening cutscene and limited amounts of campaign, Forge, and multiplayer antics. There are no spoilers in here, only good clean Halo 3 fun. The video can be viewed on the site or can be downloaded to your hard drive for viewing later.
